LAS VEGAS — The Utah State Aggies are heading to the 2020 NCAA Tournament.

In a comeback 59-56 win against San Diego State Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center, the Aggies won their second-straight Mountain West Conference title, guaranteeing them a spot in "March Madness."

The Aggies trailed for most of the first half and battled back in the second. In the final seconds, senior guard and 2018-19 conference player of the year Sam Merrill drained a 3-pointer to give Utah State the lead, leaving only 2 seconds for the Aztecs to tie it back up.

San Diego State's Malachi Flynn, this season's player of the year, attempted a long three-pointer at the buzzer but narrowly missed the mark.

The game was the Aztecs' second loss of the season, going into the game with a 30-1 record. SDSU was ranked #1 in the tournament, while USU was #2.
