LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University will not host fans at Maverik Stadium this Saturday as the Aggies take on the Fresno State Bulldogs, but USU's Athletics Department has found an alternative way to put fans in the seats.

The decision not to host fans Saturday "is based off recommendations and safety guidelines from university, local and state officials due to increased COVID-19 hospitalizations and unsustainable case rates in Utah. As of now, these restrictions only apply to this weekend's football game," a news release from USU Athletics said.

Instead, the university has arranged for cardboard cutouts to fill the seats in the stadium's lower bowl. Aggies fans who want to appear in cardboard form at the game can pay $50 and upload a photo to appear on a cutout. Click here for information on ordering a cutout. To be eligible to appear as a cutout at Saturday's game, the order must be placed by noon Wednesday.

"The cutouts are made of a weather durable material, but given the weather in our area, there is the possibility of some damage to the cutouts. If the cutouts are in good enough shape at the end of the season, we will be more than happy to provide options for you to collect or ship your cutout," an FAQ document said.

Fans who have already purchased single-game tickets will be automatically refunded, and refunds are expected to start processing on Wednesday.
