BYU wins Boca Raton Bowl, beating UCF 49-23

BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Brigham Young University Cougars beat the University of Central Florida Knights 49-23 Tuesday night in the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl.

BYU quarterback Zach Wilson threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more. Tyler Allgeier and Gunner Romney each ran for one touchdown as well.

The 16th-ranked Cougars led 35-10 at halftime and finished with 655 yards of offense to UCF’s 411. BYU had 441 passing yards compared to the Knights' 217, and both teams had 194 rushing yards.

Wilson had almost all of BYU's passing yards, with the exception of receiver Neil Pau'u throwing one 16-yard pass with Wilson on the receiving end.

Allgeier had 173 rushing yards and 60 receiving. Isaac Rex, Zachary Katoa, Pau'u and Dax Milne all had at least 70 receiving yards each, with Rex catching two TDs and Pau'u catching one.

BYU finished the 2020 season 11-1, their only loss coming from Coastal Carolina University.

Dillon Gabriel was 21 of 45 for 217 yards and two TDs for the Knights, who fell to 6-4.
