MURRAY, Utah — FOX 13 wants to help Utahns who’ve lost jobs in the pandemic get back to work, and there’s a resource job seekers may want to take advantage of Wednesday.
Four photographers are taking free head shots for people looking to spruce up their resumes.
The pop-up studio will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. inside Fashion Place Mall in Murray.
They hope to do 200 10-minute sessions as part of a nationwide initiative to take 10,000 head shots for unemployed Americans in a single day.
Organizers say head shots are like a digital handshake.
“Unemployment is crazy in this country right now, and we really feel like we wanted to do something, anything to help people,” said Brookie Curnow with Mojo Blu Photography. “The best way for us as photographers to help people is to take photos. And a head shot is really important, especially now, when you're doing everything online, everything in social media, zoom calls, things like that. A lot of people are doing interviews over zoom and a really good head shot makes a great impression and can help you get a job.”
Linked-in has reported that its users with photos get 21 times more profile views and nine times more connection requests, which could lead to your next job.
Slots are still available, but you do need to make an appointment online. To make an appointment, click here.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
