FARMINGTON, Utah — Students in several Utah school districts went back to school Tuesday, including Uintah, Tooele County, Morgan County, Iron County, Emery and Davis.

All of those districts offer in-person and distance learning options, but the Davis School District is trying something a little different.

Davis will implement an alternate-day, hybrid schedule, as spelled out in letter to parents back in July.

Students with last names from A through K will attend in person classes on Mondays and Wednesdays and online classes Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Students with last names from L through Z will attend in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays and online classes Mondays and Wednesdays.

All students will have online classes on Fridays.

If students in the same household have different last names, group assignments will be applied to all students based on the last name of the oldest student in the house.

Davis is also offering a fully online option for students who prefer that.
