OGDEN, Utah — The Ogden School District is the latest in Utah to push back its start date.
It joins the Salt Lake and Jordan districts in delaying the start of school.
The first day of school in Ogden will now be August 26 instead of the 20.
There will be three shorter days to help students and teachers adjust to all the changes, and the first full day of school will now be August 30.
Kindergarteners in the district won`t go back until September 2.
Each school district is tasked with coming up with its own plan, and must turn in those plans to state officials by this weekend.
Thursday evening, the Salt Lake city School District Board of Education will meet to talk about back-to-school plans.
Members are expected to vote on a final fall schedule.
Last week, they decided to push back the start of school to September 8, but wanted to get more feedback before finalizing details.
That meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. and a news conference will be held 30 minutes after the meeting ends.
Following a call this week by the state`'s largest teachers union to delay all in-classroom learning, the Utah State Legislature plans to hold hearings on classroom safety next month.
