UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A new wildfire sparked in Utah County on Sunday afternoon, threatening nearby structures, according to Utah Fire Info.
Officials said the Peteetneet Fire is located near Nebo Loop Road, near Payson. As of Monday morning, it is still currently mapped at 45 acres and is 60% contained. There are no current closures or structural impacts.
Utah Fire Info said the fire is burning in brush and rough terrain, but crews made "good progress" Sunday evening. Crews worked overnight on the perimeter and continued suppression Monday morning.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but it has been determined to be human-caused. Utah Fire Info is asking the public to avoid the area to allow firefighters to work safely.
