SALT LAKE CITY — Once again, the dark side of the internet has reared its ugly head with a scam targeting Netflix users.
A new round of an older phishing scam is currently underway that attempts to fool users with a fake email from Netflix Support.
The fraudulent email claims there is a billing problem that needs to be cleared with the subscriber's personal information. If the issue is not rectified, the email claims the user's Netflix account will be canceled within 24 hours.
After clicking on the link, users are routed to another fake page that steals login information, billing addresses and credit card numbers, according to WSB. Once personal information is uploaded, a redirect takes users to the real Netflix page, making the scam feel legitimate.
Netflix provides a help page for those who feel they have received the scam email.
