GREENSBORO, Georgia — You ever think you couldn't possibly need something until it's actually created, and then you exclaim out loud: "I so need that!"

Count the new Waffle House-inspired "Bacon & Kegs" beer among the products on that exclusive list.

The Oconee Brewing Company outside Atlanta has teamed up with the popular breakfast (or anytime) restaurant to serve up a beer that is enhanced with "salty, savory, and smoky bacon extract," according to Food & Wine.

The collaborative idea for "Bacon & Kegs" came about when the folks at Oconee emailed Waffle House headquarters in January and quickly learned the chain was receptive to the idea. After a taste test involving the two groups, the 6.5 percent ABV red ale was chosen to represent the restaurant's first beer.

Right now, the beer is only available at Oconee's factory in Greensboro in an effort to start small. However, the possibility exists for the Waffle House "Beer & Kegs" brew to be distributed to a larger audience and become more than just a limited edition item.
