WOODBRIDGE, Calif. — Family, friends and classmates are in mourning after an 11-year-old boy shot and killed himself during an online Zoom class Wednesday.

Adan Llanos was in his sixth-grade online class for Woodbridge Elementary School with the video and audio turned off when the gun was fired. Llanos' sister heard the gunshot from another room and found her brother with a head wound.

The sister, a middle school student, went back to her room and alerted her teacher to call 9-1-1.

Police are investigating the shooting, but Llanos' family say it was not suicide. It's not known how Adan came into possession of the gun.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family pay for Adan's funeral expenses.
