SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police are investigating a shooting at a New Year's Eve party early Friday morning.

The shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. at a home near Redwood Rd. and Indiana Ave.

Police said a man had been asked to leave the party and they believe that man produced a gun and fired shots toward the house as he was leaving. A woman suffered a gunshot wound to her leg.

Officers collected a substantial number of shell casings and received a tip that the suspect fled west in a white Yukon.

Police found a white Yukon at a nearby Smith's grocery store, but did not locate the suspect.

An SLCPD representative said officers are looking for a Hispanic man who has tattoos on his face. He was wearing a red shirt and khaki pants.
