TOOELE, Utah — Virg's is now open for business in its new home in Tooele City after closing its longtime Erda location last December.
The restaurant lost its lease to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after 23 years in the location, but the Church continued a month-to-month lease with Virg’s for 16 months before giving notice that the arrangement would end.
Owner Dave Law purchased a building at 29 North Main Street in Tooele, a site that also housed the Brothers Mexican Restaurant. Law said he had no plans to displace the existing restaurant.
“I talked with the owner of Brothers and tried to work out an arrangement to share the building, it is a large building,” Law said.
However, Law said the owners decided against sharing the building.
After cleaning, repairing, painting, and redecorating the new location, the new Virg's opened its doors for business on Feb. 8 with the same menu as the Erda restaurant.
“We’ve been busy since the day we opened,” Law said. “We have a lot of our loyal regular customers that have come back.”
