SALT LAKE CITY — If the University of Utah football team is able to get its season started this weekend vs. USC, Utes players will wear messages of change on their uniforms.
The program announced Thursday that Utah will wear all-black uniforms without player names Saturday night. Instead, the names will be replaced with the following words:
- ENOUGH
- EQUALITY
- HOPE
- LOVE
- PEACE
- TOGETHER
- UNITY
Since this summer's protests following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, many sports teams, college and professional, have shared messages demanding change on their uniforms.
After the team's first two games were canceled due to COVID-19 cases, Saturday night's game vs. USC will be Utah's first opportunity to share a joint message of change.
