DRAPER, Utah — A woman who had recently moved to Utah was arrested for attempting to kill her ex-girlfriend and the woman's new partner as an act of revenge.

Adam Tien, who goes by the name Anna, was upset after feeling her girlfriend of a year-and-a-half was only using her for financial support.

Police were called to a Draper home on Nov. 15 where Tien's ex and the woman's new partner were living. The person who called 911 claimed Tien had stabbed her.

While approaching the house, police heard smoke detectors going off after being told Tien was attempting to light the carpet on fire with a blow torch. Inside the home, police found a propane torch at the top of the stairs and patches of burnt carpet.

Police found the other women inside a bedroom with the floor, walls and bed covered in the blood. The women said they had been stabbed multiple times by Tien.

According to the police report, Tien and her ex had driven to Utah and planned to move into the home of the ex-girlfriend's friend. When the couple arrived in Utah, the ex broke up with Tien and allegedly began dating the friend who owned the house.

Feeling spurned, Tien told police she wanted to get revenge and decided upon killing the women.

As the other two slept, Tien took a 10-inch knife and began stabbing the women. After Tien was pushed out of the room, she took a blow torch and tried to set the bedroom door on fire.

Police say when the arrived, Tien opened the door to the house with her hands up and covered in blood.

Tien was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.
