A veteran in Utah is recovering from one of the rarest surgeries in the United States.
Army veteran Keith Baker has been fighting an illness that doctors were not sure they could cure, including heart failure, kidney and liver damage.
Baker needed a triple transplant—something that had never been done in Utah.
The unfamiliarity did not stop doctors from taking on the fight for his life, and three weeks before surgery, a perfect donor became available, giving Baker all three organs.
The series of surgeries took hours and multiple doctors from different disciplines, but it was successful, and now Baker is the first triple transplant survivor.
