PARK CITY, Utah — With the first hardcore cold front of the fall on its way, skiers and snowboarders know what's next: ski season.
A number of Utah resorts began preparations for the upcoming season Friday by bringing out the big machines and starting the snowmaking process.
Park City posted photos of the process on its mountains ahead of the winter season starting on Nov. 20.
Meanwhile, Snowbird posted "The guns are 'goin and winter 2020-21 is underway" on its Twitter feed. Photos show snow already amassed in places around the lifts at the resort.
Snowmaking makes it official, right? The guns are goin' and winter 2020-21 is underway. #Snowbird #EarlySeason #SnowMaking #BringItOn pic.twitter.com/K2SNCXQrBN

Once it gets cold enough, the resorts bring out the snowmaking machines to build a base so they can open for the season at an earlier date.
