SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.
Douglas Eugene Saltsman, age 40 of Sandy, was sentenced to 210 days in jail — with credit for 148 days previously served — and 48 months of probation for three second-degree felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Saltsman was arrested in December after investigators say they found thousands of images and videos of child pornography on electronic devices seized during a search of his home in August. He was charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Each charge contained graphic descriptions of videos where young girls were being sexually abused.
Saltsman pleaded guilty on March 19 to three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The seven other counts were dismissed with prejudice.
According to court documents, he stated in his guilty plea: "I knowingly possessed, on my computer at least three images of child pornography that depicted ... sexual abuse of young prepubescent minors."
During the search of Saltsman's home, police say they also discovered a drug lab in a closet. He was not charged with any drug offenses.
