SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested Wednesday night because he refused to wear a mask when boarding a Delta Airlines flight.
Joshua Colby Council was arrested for disorderly conduct - refusing to comply with a police officer.
Council was boarding a Delta Airlines flight from Salt Lake International Airport to San Francisco when he bypassed the Delta airlines gate and began walking down the Jetway ramp to board the aircraft.
The gate agent followed Council and asked that he put on a face mask, to which Council refused.
According to the probable cause statement, when on the plane, flight attendants, the manager and the captain all tried to get Council to put a mask on - but he still refused and because argumentative.
Police were called to the scene when Delta management determined Council needed to be escorted off the plane. Police asked Council to get off of the plane, but he did not comply.
Other passengers were escorted off the aircraft and Council agreed to remove himself from the plane.
After he was off the plane, he refused to give police his identification and was arrested, according to arrest documents.
