SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 25-year-old man died in a high-speed crash Saturday on State Route 201.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, just after noon on Saturday the 25-year-old man from Orem was driving eastbound in an Aston Martin at a high rate of speed, swerving between other vehicles when he clipped the back of a semitrailer near 800 West. The vehicle spun, hit the right shoulder concrete barrier, then hit another car.

The driver, who was the lone person in the car, was ejected and died on the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt, but it was torn, according to UHP.

The area of the highway has a 65 mph speed limit with nearby signs advising 50 mph, and witnesses estimate the car was traveling around 100 mph.

The driver's name was not released.

UHP reminds drivers that troopers are continuing to enforce speed limits even while highways are less busy than normal.
