TOOELE, Utah — Utah Highway Patrol troopers arrested three people in two cars Thursday in connection to a triple homicide case in California.

Troopers arrested the trio three miles east of Delle on I-80 after spiking the tires of the vehicles they were traveling in.

UHP Lt. Nick Street says the department was given a heads-up that the suspects were in the area and were ready with a helicopter and SWAT team nearby.

One of the group, Mauricio Eduardo Johnson, 18, was wanted as a suspect in the incident in which three females were found dead Wednesday in a home in Humboldt County, Calif. Two of the victims were adults, while the third was a 16-year-old girl, according to KRCR.

Johnson was found driving in one of the cars stopped by UHP troopers with Von Eric Keener. Authorities say Keener, 46, was taken into custody on a parole warrant.

Johnson is being held on a no-bail murder warrant.

A woman driving the other vehicle was also taken into custody and is being detained while charges are determined.

Officials said the three victims were members of the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria Tribe.

The suspects are being booked into the Tooele County Jail.
