PROVIDENCE, Utah — Two people have died after a possible murder-suicide in Cache County Friday night.
The Cache County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 38-year-old Heidi Bentley and the suspect as 38-year-old Matthew Bentley, both of Providence.
Authorities in Cache County responded to reports of a domestic violence incident in Providence at 11:45 p.m. on July 24 after a caller stated they heard a woman scream, and then possible gunshots.
A 38-year-old woman was found dead on scene. The cause of death appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Logan City Police were able to clear and secure the apartment with assistance from Utah Highway Patrol.
After pinpointing his location, local SWAT were able to use a robot to determine the suspect was deceased in the home with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
State crime scene investigators are processing both scenes, and victim’s advocates are assisting the family.
Investigators said Matthew and Heidi were formerly married.
Heidi Bentley's family made the following statement through the Sheriff's Office:
