Power restored to thousands of Grantsville residents after outage caused by car crash

GRANTSVILLE, Utah — Nearly 3,000 homes in Grantsville lost electricity after a car ran into a power pole Monday night.

Rocky Mountain Power reported that 2,997 customers were affected by the outage, which was first reported at 8:27 p.m.

RMP estimated the power will be restored by 1:30 a.m. However, the number was down to 312 customers by 10:30 p.m.

According to Grantsville Police, a vehicle was traveling westbound on Main Street near Kearl Street at about 40-50 mph when it left the road and crashed into a power pole, then a tree.

The driver was taken to the hospital but was in stable condition. The accident is under investigation.
