WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A SWAT team has surrounded a home in West Valley City where an armed fugitive is holed up.
West Valley City Police spokesperson, Roxanne Vainuku, says the man barricaded himself inside a home at 3996 South Boothill Drive.
Vainuku didn’t identify the suspect, but said he is a fugitive parolee.
A West Valley officer spotted the man in his vehicle Monday morning and attempted to stop and take him into custody.
Instead, the man drove to his own home and barricaded himself inside.
Vainuku says the man is a violent offender, so the SWAT team was called in to serve the arrest warrant.
There is no imminent danger to the public, according to Vainuku.
