Deputies administered first aid to the unidentified victim in his 50s, who had been shot on the island causeway, until he was airlifted to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Investigators are currently interviewing the suspect to determine what led to the shooting and if they knew the victim. The age or identity of the suspect was not released.

Two other individuals found in the suspect's vehicle were also taken into custody, although they had stayed at the scene and cooperated with detectives.

The lone causeway to the island was closed to all traffic due to the shooting but was reopened shortly after the incident to allow visitors to leave the park.

The park was reopened to all visitors on Thursday morning.
