Suspect accused of breaking into vehicle at Utah trailhead, forging checks

LAYTON, Utah — Police are looking for a woman accused of breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot of a local hiking trail and then forging the stolen checks.

Layton City Police say the woman broke into the vehicle at the Adam's Canyon trail lot on Oct. 6. The woman stole a purse and checkbook from the vehicle.

The victim's checks were later forged and cashed by the suspect at banks throughout Salt Lake County using stolen IDs.

According to police, the female suspect was driving a newer, white Chevrolet Tahoe with no license plates.
