DEER VALLEY, Utah — A worldwide pandemic wasn't going to stop the Stein Eriksen Lodge from baking something delicious for the holidays.

The Deer Valley resort debuted its annual gingerbread display last week and set it right next to the hotel's 32-foot Christmas tree in the lobby.

A dozen solid chocolate nutcrackers guard the gingerbread exhibit which stands seven feet tall and three feet wide. The display features 45 pounds of gingerbread, nearly 60 pounds of icing and 15 pounds of fondant.

The resort team lead by Executive Pastry Chef Jeremy Garcia and Chef Zane Holmquist labored 100 hours over four weeks to design and bake the magnificent creation.

Previous holiday displays at the Stein Eriksen Lodge have featured scenes from Star Wars, Frozen, Harry Potter and Despicable Me 2.

"We are so grateful to bring our visionary gingerbread displays to life every holiday season – this one in particular,” said Chef Garcia. “Celebrating traditions is so meaningful for families, friends, and our guests, and we hope this year’s treasured touches and details will remind all of fond childhood memories and provide an opportunity to connect with younger generations as they create new special moments together.”

Guests are welcome to view the gingerbread display and Christmas tree throughout the holiday season.
