SALT LAKE CITY — Police are asking for help identifying a "person of interest" in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Salt Lake City.
A 78-year-old man died from his injuries after being hit by a silver SUV early Sunday morning at the intersection of 200 West and 400 South, according to SLC Police.
Shortly after midnight, the man was walking southbound on 200 West when the vehicle eastbound on 400 South struck him.
Police say they made "initial contact" with the man, pictured below, but he fled the scene.
SLCPD says the man was driving a silver Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon XL that may have some "cosmetic" damage on its front end. The vehicle has "In God We Trust" Utah plates with an American flag on them.
