DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — The Davis County School District announced Tuesday night that it would be canceling school Wednesday due to power outages and other effects from Monday night's windstorm.
"Weather forecasts call for continued strong winds until at least mid-morning tomorrow. In light of that, we are canceling school for all DSD schools Wednesday, Sept. 9, because of power outages, continued weather threats and highway restrictions for high-profile vehicles," the district tweeted.
The Salt Lake City School District announced earlier that it would also be canceling its classes, which are all online.
SLCSD will still provide lunch for students from 11 a.m until 12:30 p.m. at the following locations:
- Backman Elementary
- East High School
- Edison Elementary
- Meadowlark Elementary
- Northwest Middle School
- West High School
- Whittier Elementary
The Davis district has not specified if it would provide meals, but did announce that students in "Group 2" will have face-to-face instruction on Thursday and "Group 1" on Friday. For secondary schools, Thursday and Friday will both be on the "B-day" schedule.
In order to make sure all students have face-to-face instruction this week, we will hold in-person face-to-face instruction on Thursday for Group 2 and Friday for Group 1. In our secondary schools, B-day classes will be held on both Thursday and Friday.
