MAGNA, Utah — One person died after a shooting Friday afternoon in Magna.
Unified Police received reports of shots fired around 4:30 p.m. at the Colony Farms apartment complex, near 7250 W. 2600 South.
Police say the victim, 20-year-old Fernando Ruesga of Magna, was found dead in the driver's seat of a car at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect has not been identified, but police say a male was seen leaving the scene at a "high rate of speed."
There were no other victims and no other people in the car. Police checked the surrounding housing units and say they have determined no bystanders were injured.
Despite the suspect being at large, UPD says they do not believe there is a significant threat to the general public as it did not appear to be a random attack. Homicide investigators are working to determine exactly what happened, identify and locate the suspect, and find out the connection between Ruesga and the shooter.
FOX 13 News is at the scene and will provide further updates as soon as they become available.
