EMERY COUNTY, Utah — At least one person has died as a result of flash flooding near Goblin Valley State Park Monday afternoon, according to the Emery County Sheriff's Office.
Multi-agency search and rescue operations are continuing Monday evening in Little Wildhorse Canyon after an isolated thunderstorm caused flash flooding in slot canyons.
It is not currently known how many people are stranded or injured, but the sheriff's office says at least 21 have made it out safely. Officials say that vehicles parked at nearby trailheads lead them to believe there are still hikers unaccounted for.
Three helicopters are assisting in the search, and several ambulances are standing by on scene.
