The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning that begins Sunday at 2:00 PM and remains until Monday at 8:00 PM.

Areas of the state impacted by the warning include the Mojave Desert, Color County, West Desert and Grand Staircase.

A Red Flag Warning is issued when high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds are expected to combine, producing an increased risk of fire danger.

Residents are asked to check and obey all fire restrictions in their area. If burning is permitted, make sure that all outdoor fires are properly extinguished, and be aware of things like cigarette butts and parking a vehicle on dry grass.

Winds can blow sparks or embers into leaves or grass, which when ignited, can quickly spread.

The Saddle Fire near Midway has burned approximately 683 acres and is 80% contained as of May 17.
