Provo issues red flag warning through Monday evening

A red flag warning has been issued by Provo City, in effect from noon on Sunday until 9 p.m. Monday.

Residents are asked to be aware of any potential ignition sources while outdoors due to hot and windy conditions that could result in fires spreading quickly.

Red flag warnings typically mean that warm temperatures, combined with low humidity and increased winds are expected to combine, producing a higher risk of fire danger.

There have been more than 1,000 fire starts in Utah in 2020, with nearly 200,000 total acres burned.
