PRESTON, Idaho — Police are trying to find whoever stole an envelope and condolence cards full of money from a funeral in Preston, Idaho over the weekend.

The funeral and viewing took place Friday and Saturday at a church near 200 North and 200 West. The Preston Police Department says the stolen envelope and cards contained a "large sum of money" that was donated to the family.

Police are asking anyone at the funeral to contact them through Facebook if they saw someone walking away with the cards or anything suspicious.

They also ask anyone who donated money to contact them so police will have an accurate accounting of the amount stolen. If anyone donated via check, police ask them to contact their bank to cancel the check if possible, or, if it had already been cashed, to find out from the bank where and when it was cashed and pass the information on to the police.
