EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — Investigators are asking for security camera and doorbell camera footage from an area in Eagle Mountain where a dog was shot and killed Saturday.
A 4-year-old girl's miniature Doberman, "Lucky," was shot Saturday afternoon and later died from the wounds, according to the Utah County Sheriff's Office.
The girl's father reported to police that they were in the backyard of their home on Ute Drive when he heard what he thought were fireworks, then Lucky ran to him with a gunshot wound. He took the dog to a veterinarian for emergency care, where it died.
From his backyard, he said he saw two men near the end of the Eagle Top Court cul-de-sac who he believed were responsible. He did not pursue or approach them, instead taking the dog to the vet immediately.
Utah County Sheriff's deputies traced a blood trail to the backyard of a home on Eagle Top Court, but no arrests have been made yet.
Authorities are asking anyone who lives on Eagle Top Court, Golden Eagle Road or Ute Drive to review doorbell camera or security camera footage from Saturday between 3-4 p.m. for anyone walking or driving by, and to then contact Detective Dallin Turner at 801-851-4023.
