ALPINE, Utah — Police arrested a man in Utah County Wednesday in connection with a fraud investigation that led to a chase in Lehi, Highland and Alpine.
According to the Lehi Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle that they believed was involved in fraud at a local supermarket.
Police said the driver failed to pull over and they followed him into Highland.
"After driving into some dirt and sagebrush and stopping the driver fled on foot. A passenger remained with the vehicle and was take into custody," Lehi Police said in a Facebook post. "The driver is believed to have stolen a vehicle after fleeing from the first accident. The individual then drove into Alpine City where he was involved in a second accident."
Police said that driver once again fled on foot, but officers located him after a receiving a report about a person laying in some bushes. The suspect received medical treatment for injuries suffered during the accident, and was then booked into the Utah County Jail.
