Plane headed to Provo crashes in Arizona, killing 4 people onboard

MESA, Ariz. — A plane headed to Provo crashed Tuesday in Arizona, killing five people in total, including four who were onboard the aircraft. One person survived the incident and is currently hospitalized.

The crash occurred in the afternoon near Falcon Field in Mesa, which is a suburb of Phoenix.

Aerial footage showed the plane on fire and at least one damaged vehicle that was involved. One of the five people killed was an unidentified driver on the ground at the time of the crash.

On Wednesday, police released the names of the four people on the plane that died in the crash. They were identified as:

  • Spencer Lindahl (43 years old)
  • Rustin Randall (48)
  • Drew Kimball (44)
  • Graham Kimball (12)

The flight-tracking website, FlightRadar24, showed the flight was on its way to Provo when it crashed. It was scheduled to land in Utah at 6:30 p.m.
Additional data from ADS-B Exchange showed how the jet accelerated down the runway, reaching a maximum airspeed of 133 knots before it began to decelerate, slowing to about 100 knots at the end of the runway, then off the end and into the road, where it crashed into a passing vehicle.

Terri Fairfield, a hiker in nearby Usery Mountain Regional Park saw smoke minutes after the crash.

The NTSB is currently investigating the crash.
