In the interest of public safety, the Bureau of Land Management has issued a temporary emergency area fire closure, effective August 2, 2020 at 8:00 a.m.

The closure is due to extreme fire conditions and fire suppression activity in the areas of:

  • North of the UT/AZ state line.
  • All BLM public lands east of Johnson Wash
  • All BLM public lands west of BLM Road 700/1065 (House Rock Valley Road)
  • The junction of Highway 89 and BLM Road 700/1065 (House Rock Valley Road) south to the UT/AZ state line

As of Sunday morning, the Pine Hollow Fire has burned approximately 11,275 acres, and is 15% contained.

Cloud cover on Saturday reportedly helped with suppression efforts, allowing crews to make progress on the most active portion of the fire.

Crews are engaging on the west portion of the fire, preparing for a potential burnout operation, and establishing contingency lines.

The fire was caused by lightning on July 29, 2020.
