Pedestrian hit and killed by car on South Temple, SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — A man died Saturday afternoon after being hit by a car in Salt Lake City.

According to Salt Lake City Police, a man in his 60s was crossing South Temple at 500 East when he was hit and killed by the vehicle.

The driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police, and he said he did not see the man.

Police say the man was using a crosswalk with lights, but neither the driver or witnesses could tell police if the lights were flashing or not.

Police estimate South Temple will remain closed from 400-700 East until about 5:30 p.m. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

The victim's name has not been released.
