SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The westbound lanes of I-80 and the ramp from eastbound I-84 to westbound I-80 were closed Friday morning after a semitrailer caught fire in Summit County.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a semitrailer hauling meat products was traveling west on I-80 near milepost 168 when its driver noticed the rear tires had locked up and caught fire around 2:30 a.m.
The driver pulled over and attempted to extinguish the flames, but the fire spread to the trailer.
Troopers expect the cleanup effort will last several hours.
"It is anticipated that one westbound lane of travel will be opened as well as the ramp as soon as it is deemed safe," a news release from UHP says.
