PART OF 300 W IN SLC CLOSED DUE TO FIRE AT ABANDONED BUILDING — Salt Lake City Fire Department crews responded to a fire at an abandoned building early Monday morning.

The fire started around 4:00 at 646 N 300 W, just a few hundred feet from a Chevron gas station.

"When crews arrived, they had heavy smoke and flames. It is an abandoned structure. They had two individuals that were unauthorized to be in that structure that came out of it. At this point, the fire is under investigation. No reported injuries at this time. Just trying to get it contained," an SLCFD spokesman said.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of 300 W between 500 N and 700 N are closed as fire crews continue to contain the fire.
