TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — One person was killed Sunday afternoon in a rollover accident on Interstate 80.

Around 2:45 p.m., a Toyota pickup truck eastbound near mile marker 60 (in Tooele County, about 19 miles east of Knolls) drifted off the left side of the freeway into the median.

The driver then overcorrected multiple times, hitting the median again before rolling. The driver, who Utah Highway Patrol troopers believe was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died on the scene.

The pickup then caught fire after coming to rest on the opposite direction of I-80. Westbound lanes were closed temporarily.

No other vehicles were involved, and nobody else was in the vehicle. The driver's name will be released after their family has been notified, UHP says.
