WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A man who had been missing for about a month was found dead Saturday.

Chad West, 53, was reported missing by a friend on Dec. 17. He was last seen on the 11th driving away from his home in Wasatch County.

The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office began a search and put out a request for tips from anyone who had seen him or his pickup truck.

On Dec. 29, a civilian offered to take search and rescue crews on a flyover in his personal plane to search for West's truck. They did so but were unable to find anything.

On Saturday morning, authorities received a report that someone had found a truck that was possibly West's, located on private property in the "Hogs Back" area of Daniels Canyon.

Deputies and search and rescue teams responded, confirmed it was his truck and located his body nearby.

An investigation is underway, but officials do not suspect any foul play. The state medical examiner will determine the cause of his death.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Chad. We appreciate all who have assisted in locating Mr. West," the sheriff's office wrote.
