The Cache County Sheriff's Office says the minors were off-trail hiking around 5 p.m. when they lost a knife they had been using to cut through brush.
During the search for the knife, one of the minors slid down a hill and onto the knife, causing significant injuries and extensive bleeding.
The other minor was able to call for help, and due to the remote location, officials sent two helicopters to extricate the injured minor from his position.

After being hoisted out of the area, the minor was brought to the entrance to the canyon and flown to a Salt Lake City hospital for additional medical care.
The injured minor is expected to recover.
