Man wielding a gun shot and killed by police in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Utah — A man was shot and killed by police in Weber County Friday night.

Weber Area Dispatch received a call around 10:40 p.m. from a homeowner in Hunstville, reporting a man attempting to break into a trailer in front of the home. The man also reportedly had a gun, and had fired several shots.

Deputies from the Weber County Sheriff's Office responded, with an additional officer from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

The man confronted the officers when they arrived, reportedly making aggressive gestures, prompting two deputies to shoot.

He was hit, and despite medical aid being rendered, passed away as a result of his injuries.

Per protocol, the investigation has been turned over to the Weber County Office Officer Involved Critical Incident Team.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
