HERRIMAN, Utah — A man died Tuesday night after he suffered a gunshot wound during an encounter with police in Herriman.
Police have identified the man as 38-year-old Isaac Lemoine Christensen from Salt Lake City.
Two officers responded to an address near 5300 W Solafax Ln. around 10 p.m. after they received a report of a man who may have been violating a protective order.
"While en route, officers were advised that the male suspect was armed. As they arrived in the area, responding officers heard several gunshots," a news release from Herriman PD said. "An adult male was encountered and challenged by officers. At some point, he presented a threat and was engaged by two officers from the Herriman City Police Department."
Christensen died at the scene and no officers were injured.
The two officers who engaged with Christensen have been placed on paid administrative leave.
Detectives from other law enforcement agencies not involved in Tuesday's shooting will investigate the incident, per Salt Lake County's Officer-Involved Critical Incident Protocol.
