HOLLADAY, Utah — The man who was shot in an officer-involved shooting in Holladay has died.
According to a news release from the Unified Police Department, the man, identified as 39-year-old Matthew Hilbelink, succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Aug. 11.
UPD officers responded to a call from a woman around noon on Saturday, Aug. 8 saying her husband was suicidal.
Police encountered Hilbelink at a parking garage.
Investigators say he had a gun, and despite efforts to negotiate with him, officers shot him when they felt their lives were in danger.
Hilbelink was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
No officers were hurt.
The investigation by the officer-involved critical incident team is still ongoing.
