Police identify victim and suspect in fatal WVC shooting

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — One man is dead after being shot Monday evening in West Valley City.

According to WVC Police, officers responded to a report of a man shot shortly after 7 p.m. in the area of 1400 West and 3500 South.

The man, identified as 49-year-old* Abdulraheem Al-Hisnawi, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his wounds.

Police say the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Edwin "Shorty" Carrillo, fled on foot and was arrested a few days later.

Police added that it appeared the suspect and victim knew each other.

*The victim's age was initially reported by police as 36 years old but was later updated.
