Suspect in custody after lighting woman on fire at Murray motel, police say

MURRAY, Utah — A suspect is now in custody after police say he poured a flammable liquid on a woman and sett her on fire on a balcony at a Murray motel early Thursday morning.

Andrew Todd Curtis, 44, was arrested just before 11 a.m.

The victim, 34, is in critical condition and has been admitted to the Burn Center at The University of Utah Hospital. She has burns on 70 percent of her body, Murray Police said in a news release.

A Murray Police spokesman said it happened shortly before 3 a.m. at Studio Six, 975 E 6600 S.

A GoFundMe account has been created for the victim.
