TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — A man was critically injured Friday morning in a shooting at an apartment complex in Taylorsville.

The shooting occurred at Callaway Apartments, 1141 W 3900 S. Police were first notified of the shooting around 12:30 a.m.

Investigators with the Unified Police Department said several high-powered rifle rounds went through exterior walls and into a man's bedroom.

A woman was also in the apartment but was not injured, according to police.

"We do not have any suspects at this time. The only thing we have is some witnesses saw a black sedan leaving the area but we are unsure 100 percent if that sedan was involved," said Sgt. Melody Gray, UPD. "We haven't been able to have a conversation with the victim either. He is going into surgery and so it will be several hours before we'll be able to even talk to him and see if he possibly knows who did this to him or why."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
