SALT LAKE CITY — FOX 13 News has received numerous reports of a string of fast-moving lights in the sky Thursday morning.
While some viewers speculated that the lights were shooting stars or alien spacecraft, the most likely explanation is a cluster of SpaceX Starlink satellites.
The website findstarlink.com allows visitors to input a location and track the dates and times the Starlink satellites will be visible.
According to the website, the Starlink satellites passed over Salt Lake City at 5:52 a.m. and 6:22 a.m. Thursday.
The next opportunity for a Starlink satellite cluster sighting over Salt Lake City, according to the Find Starlink website, will be at about 6:02 a.m. Friday. The website suggests looking southwest to southeast. A series of winter storms is on its way to Utah, so visibility may be hampered.
